2021 2oz. Silver Spartan War Mask (Antiqued)

Mention the word “Spartan” and most people will immediately recall images of skillful fighters who are indifferent to pain and fear. Those images are no doubt influenced by the 2006 film 300 that showcased a band of buff, half-naked Spartan warriors fighting to the last man at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. The film was a retelling of the battle that pitted 300 Spartan warriors led by King Leonidas against Persian King Xerxes. The heavily fictionalized story did get one thing right: The imposing battle masks worn by the tenacious Spartan warriors. And now one of those masks appears as the second release in the Ancient Warriors Series that honors some of history’s greatest warriors and their iconic masks.
