1889-O Morgan Silver Dollar XF
High Grade, Scarce 1889-O Morgan Silver Dollar
This 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the fabled New Orleans Mint in 1889. The New Orleans Mint is the only mint to be governed by three bodies during its existence (U.S., State of Louisiana, and the Confederate States of America). Each coin features an "O" mintmark on the bottom reverse attesting to its origin. The New Orleans Mint closed forever in 1909 and produced Morgan Silver Dollars for 26 years. 1889-O Morgan Silver Dollars in true Mint condition are difficult to obtain because of wide circulation and melting. This coin is in lightly circulated Extremely Fine (XF) collector condition. All the details are still vividly discernable and only minor wear is seen on the high points. Coins this high grade become more and more difficult to find every year, because more and more collectors are attracted the heft and beauty of these big Silver Dollars and they need this date to complete their collections.
